Talking to...

For the second time this day, Lloyd’s mouth hung open because the room was packed with old stuff. “This is beautiful!” the boy whispered, trying not to destroy the wonderful silence of the place. His grandfather smiled and showed him a few things. The 10 year old loved to see the old jewellery and furniture, but he was absolut amazed by the pictures of his ancestors. “Do you know who this is?” he asked the elderly man, who nodded. “Yes, this is my grandmother!” He looked at a picture of a beautiful young lady and smiled. When he knew her, she was a little older. “She was a special person.” He sighed and tried to remember her, but he couldn’t because his memory had started to fade many years ago. He was very happy as he watched his grandson discovering the room, but after a while his wife called him. “I have to go, now. If you want, you can stay and enjoy the aura!” Lloyd stayed and his grandfather went upstairs. The room was cold before, but now it was colder. He didn’t care because he looked at old books and games, and imagined how it would be to live in the Roman Times or the Industrial Revolution. He totally forgot reality as he looked at the pictures again. Suddenly he thought he saw something moving in one picture, so he looked back. In the picture was an old man standing in the middle of an market. Behind him was a dog, and as the boy looked closer, the dog’s tail was moving. After a while the picture came slowly to life. The boy’s thoughts stood still. As the whole market came to life. The 10 year old stepped back to look at the whole picture as the man in the middle of the market started to talk to him with an awful British accent. “Hey little boy, I think you should see this. My name is Sir Henry Cooper and I’m your…. let me think…. Great great great great…” The man started to count the word “great” with his fingers. “..Great… never mind. I’m your grandfather with more “greats” than I can imagine. And I want to show you what you want to know.” Lloyd couldn’t believe his eyes. Was he crazy? No he wasn’t, because the man in the picture was talking to him, so he answered. “So, you want to show me how you lived?” First, he thought the picture wouldn’t respond, but it did. “Exactly! But first of all, you have to come to me!” “And how do I do that?” The boy asked and bit on his lip. “Can you see the old clock behind you?” He nodded after he made sure there was an old clock. “Climb in there and say clearly my name!” Lloyd wanted to ask the man what his name was, because he couldn’t really remember, but then he just went to the clock and climbed in. He closed the door and tried to remember the name. “Sir. Harry Cooper!” he said clearly, but nothing happened. He thought about another name. “Mr. Henry Looper!” Again, it was wrong, but he tried. “Sir Henry Cooper!” Suddenly the black light faded and all kinds of colours appeared. It was like an amazing spiral around him and he could feel how he fell. “Wow!” he said, but he couldn’t hear his own voice. Then, with a loud noise he fell to the floor.
