Fanart: Art feels like Home

| What does art mean to you? That is a question I get a lot whenever I talk about art with people. And it's a question that isn't easy to answer. For me, creating personal art is a form of expression. It's showing people not only my view on the world through my lenses but also a way to show people what is going on inside of me. It's like showing people my world where I hide myself when the world just becomes a super overwhelming place for me. It's also a coping mechanism for me. Not only is it a medium that helps me to self-reflect (which is why a lot of characters I draw in my personal work actually look like me..no, so this is not a narcistic tendency, lol) but also a way to cope with my mental illness and childhood Trauma (not gonna evaluate on that..maybe in the future) ...in short, Art is this real sacred thing to me, a ritual , communication. It's home. It's where I can throw away all my masks and allow myself to be fully myself without the fear of judgement. That's what I tried to capture in this image. Me laying in the floor, wiping my tears away after an emotional drawing session while I'm surrounded by my art. The canvas is a analogy to the digital canvas I use for my art..I think the message wouldn't have come across the same way if I had drawn a computer, lol! So I wonder: What does art mean for you? Why are you making art? |

For me Art is something to make people happy. I´m a overall really happy person and love to give some of that to others through my Artwork and Storys. My life is too short, to be upset so i create things, that will always be there and maybe comfort others a little, if they have a hard time. Also creating makes me feel at ease. I just think about the pic or Story and nothing else in that moment. Of cause i also have Problems sometimes and sad things that happend, but i grow on them and know how to keep my happyness, so i try to give some of that away.
When you create a Picture, you learn to see the details of the World and how it works. You have a reason to look at things closely, because it makes your artwork better and for that, you pay attension were others wouldn´t.
When you create a Story, you try to understand Persons you or others created and how they might behave. For me it is a unique way to increase the level empathy.
My mind is a very bright world of freedom. Always curious of everything, open minded and sees mostly only the beauty of it´s surroundings.
For me creating is understanding.
So i create, and learn, and poste stuff i make to bring some smiles on faces, just because i love smiles. (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧
