Because swords, fairies and fancy hair!

I started in November 2012, working very slowly on it because my study has first priority. During my Christmas Holidays I managed to finish all the sewing parts within 5 days. Boosting up my "seamless trim" skills, omg all those corners ;__;

The jacket and overskirt are made from pleather. I have had a hard time deciding the color for the trim. I wasn't certain about it being super metallic shiny silver, semi-shiny silver, just plain grey, or even white (stupid reverences).
So I did some experiments by testing all the options. White was a NO and super metallic shiny silver or grey didn't give the effect I wanted. So I picked up the semi-shiny silver pleather because in my opinion it gived the best visual effect on the costume.

The shirt is from tricot, rushed together with my serger, because I can.

The pants are made from a wool/ polyester blend.

For the boots I used black mens boots modified with pleather.

All the armor parts are made from polystyrene, thermoformed and painted with acrylics.

As for the sword, I made a tutorial which can be found here: http://fav.me/d5tguyw

The wig... omg the wig... try to make "natural looking spikes" (stupid novel) with synthethic hair... I used 2 wigs for it. Ripped one apart, to make a lace front and sew all the wefts on the other wig. Because I needed all the volume to make the wig "explode" xD I steam styled all the spikes with a little touch of Got2B hairspray.

The ear prosthetics are modeled and hand made by me with latex.

This is one hell of an amazing work!
I can't seem to find anything wrong with it, anything overlooked or whatsoever.
You are a damn awesome perfectionist and your hard work totaly payed of.
    I'm really amazed!
Everything is as good as it could be: I love your jacket and overskirt, also your shoes and armor parts <3
Particulary about the front lace, I would be really interested in how you did it.
And let's not forget about the sword! It looks just so great.
God damn it, you have the best Kirito costume I've ever seen.
    Really nice work!

*Blush* thank you so much *.*
Yes I am really an "ant f*cker" as the Dutch call it xD

For the lace front, I have learned it during my study. But there are tutorials all over the internet. I have found this video for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWqGTzj3y14
In the beginning it will be a lot of trial and error, but once you know the trick it will be very addictive ^^

    No problem :)
I'm still amazed by your work.
And what do you study, if I may ask?

Thank you for the link! I somehow thought that you had done the front lace in some other way then ventilating, which I already knew of. But thanks anyway, the video is much clearer than the one I had for reference before ^^
And keep up the great work!

I have studied Theatrical Design (just graduated a few weeks ago). Which involved costume, scenery, make-up, props, lighting and some more.

An other way I know is sticking pieces of hair in a sheet of latex or (faux)leather. But I only use that technique for making skintops, parting wigs or moving the hairline to the back (like for old people, sticking hair in a bald cap) and blending the latex in the skin with liquid latex (like I did with the ears here). I do this by using a needle, I cut the eye of the needle trough the middle so I cet an U en then I stick pieces of hair trough the latex or leather with the backside of the needle. After that I secure all the hairs sticked into the latex or leather with glue on the backside. I don't know if there is a tutorial somewhere but this is the best explanation I can give. ^^

Well then congratulations on graduating! I respect people who studied stuff like that :)

And that is a really nice explanation, thank you so much! It sounds very interesting, but you are right it would probably not be such a nice technique to use for front laces. Never the less I already have an idea where this could come in handy ^^
Thank you so much! I really apreciate your kindness, as not everyone around here is so openly talking about their techniques ;)

May I know what you're next work will be?

    Thanks a lot ^^

The wig was a real pain in the ass. I also don't like how his hair looks like in the anime. But I also read the novel and it looks better out there.
So for my wig I tried to combine both styles. The fluffy and poofiness from the art of the novel with the "profile" of that from the anime.
The author describes in the novel his hair as "naturally spiked" in ALO.
And the most important is that I did what I think looks the best for a fairy man.

Sorry it is kinda hard to explain, but I hope you understand how I worked out the wig xD

Sehr cool Cosplay!

Sorry I will answer in English because my German writing skills isn't that awesome ^^'

Thanks you for your constructive feedback.

If there are people who want to protect themself against spoilers, don't read this below!!!

The shots with the white background are inspired by the "inside the World Tree" scenes.
The black background is when all the crap happens on top of it.

But don't worry I have planned a shoot in the woods soon, because I also made his wings and the studio was too small to be able to wear them ^^'
